Why polyester

Sublimation needs polyester — and that's the point

In sublimation, heat turns the ink into a gas that dyes the polyester fibers. The design becomes part of the fabric instead of a layer sitting on top.

Sublimated polyester

  • Design is dyed into the fibers — nothing to crack or peel
  • Full-color and all-over prints, seam to seam
  • Soft hand: you can't feel the print
  • Light and quick-drying for sports and summer events

Prints on top of the fabric

  • Thick ink or film layers can crack or peel over time
  • Each extra color or print location adds setup and cost
  • Heavier feel where the design sits
  • Works on cotton, which sublimation does not

Honest limit: sublimation colors are transparent, so full-color designs look brightest on white and light fabrics. We choose from 8 fabric colors with you and flag any design that won't show well at the proof stage.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the minimum order?

10 shirts per design. Orders of 10 to 200 pieces are our focus.

How much does a custom polyester shirt cost?

$18 per shirt for 10–49 pieces, delivered duty paid to a US address. For 50–200 pieces, send your details for a quote.

What does DDP mean?

Delivered Duty Paid: the price includes air shipping and US import duties, so there is nothing extra to pay when the shirts arrive.

How long does an order take?

Production takes 5–10 days after you approve the proof, then about 9 days by air to the US — roughly 2–3 weeks in total. Tell us your deadline when you ask for a quote.

Why polyester instead of cotton?

Sublimation only works on polyester. The ink turns into a gas and dyes the fibers, so the design becomes part of the fabric and does not crack or peel. Polyester is also light and quick-drying.

Can you print a full-color design on a dark shirt?

Sublimation colors are transparent, so full-color designs look brightest on white and light fabrics. On darker fabrics, light colors in the design will not show. We will tell you at the proof stage if a design and fabric color don't work together.

Do I see the design before you print?

Yes. You approve a digital proof before anything is produced.

Do you make cotton shirts?

No. Polyprinted works only with polyester, because that is what sublimation printing needs.
